If you are getting the error, “After Effects error: the chosen file cannot be read as a Cineon FIDO or SMPTE DPX”, it is most likely due to crappy header encoding in Apple Color.
I love the scopes but hate the bugs Color.
The solution is this:
Open the file in Photoshop, then save it making no changes, an then close it again. That is it.
Make a Droplet that does it and you are set.
When I made the Droplet I ran into a bug where Photoshop didn’t have the .DPX extension available.
I recorded a unneeded step before clicking Save and Close.
After this I deleted the un-needed step and the droplet was ready.
It works by wiping out the bad header information, but the file opens in every program properly, though Nuke will need to be told the color space.
